History
We are proud of the fact that we are one of the oldest locally-owned independent businesses in the city. The firm was established in 1907 by two New Brunswick men, J.E. Nicol and H.N. Loggie. At that time, 100 years ago, the city was only 4 years old and had a population of about 8,000. It had one mile of paved streets and 49 streetlights. In 1914 Loggie bought Nicol out. Bill Childs joined the firm and eventually bought the business in 1938. Shortly after World War II, Harold Hague started with the firm, and became manager and part owner. In 1978 he bought the rest of the business from Bill. In 1984 Kelly Hague joined the business, and in 1989 bought the business from his father.

Policies
We maintain a customer list that includes a record of purchases. We do not sell this list or cross market with other companies. We use the customer's home phone number as an account number. We do not use this home number to call you for marketing purposes. If you do not want to be on our customer list we do not require your home phone number.

If you are on our customer list, we do not keep a record of your Visa or Mastercard number on the computer for security reasons. Each time you order you must provide us with your credit card number.

We are open 9:30 to 5:30 CST, Monday to Saturday.
